Wimba / Contribute - We have acquired two new software products over the last few months:

  • Wimba allows you to incorporate voice email, voice boards and voice assessments into your curriculum. Students complete your voice-enabled projects outside of class and you are able to access their oral work using your favorite computer location.
  • Contribute is a relatively simple-to-use, yet robust tool for editing your web space, and editing web pages not in your domain (i.e. those of you who edit the language section pages).
  • If you plan to attend this workshop do the following:
    1. Email me to request creation of a Wimba account
    2. Download and install the trial version of the Contribute software. At the workshop you will be given a license key to allow you to register the software.

Grades / RDC / Data Protection - This workshop has three components:

  • 1) Attend this workshop to become familiar with the various tools that we use for tracking our grades, and leave with the tool you prefer, if it is not already installed on your computer. (Scott will facilitate this segment but he encourages those who use Excel, WebCT, etc., to come to the workshop ready to show how they use their preferred tool, and to bring shareable spreadsheets, etc.)
  • 2) We will walk through the steps to allow you to use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to your work computer from home, from a classroom on campus, from someone else's office, or anywhere else in the world. Print documents and have them waiting for you when you get back to the office, etc., etc., etc. (Works with both Apple and Windows (XP) computers.)
  • 3) We will take a look at various quick and safe ways to backup, protect and transport your work files, including memory keys/flash drives, and using your social space for easy backup.

Wildcard Workshop

  • Come review the previous workshops, ask your questions, and work on your projects with Scott on hand to try to help you out.
