Abstract: In the fall of 2007 we combined all of our (approximately) 28-students-per-section classes of beginning Spanish into two mega-sections of 220 students each. We will briefly discuss the reasons, theory, process and results of that decision. We will then take a look at the instructional model developed, a typical class day, and an in-depth look at the many day-to-day strategies we employ to facilitate student learning, maintain instructor/student and student/student interaction, prevent honor code violations, keep students engaged and on task, and prevent professor burn out. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion throughout the presentation.
