My recommendations:

For your home, office and laptop:

• Use Netscape Messenger or Outlook Express as your email package
• Delete any existing POP3 mailservers
• Add both your Unity and SOCIAL IMAP servers

(In NETSCAPE, EDIT and PREFERENCES and MAIL/NEWSGROUPS and SERVERS and then ADD mailservers; In Outlook Express, TOOLS, ACCOUNTS, etc.)
• You will then have access to your email (and folders) whether you are at home, at the office, or in Timbuktu
• Settings:
  • incoming (campus): social.chass.ncsu.edu
  • incoming (off-campus): social.chass.ncsu.edu
  • outgoing (campus): social.chass.ncsu.edu
  • outgoing (off-campus): specific to your ISP
