Preparation Checklist for FLS101-601
(Complete prior to the first day of classes, January 9, 2008)
- Read the DELTA Information Sheet
- Read the FLS101i Information Sheet
- Prepare for the Introductory Meeting
- Read through the course syllabus carefully
and completely prior to attending (or viewing) the Introductory Meeting.
(Note: There are only a few clickable links in the schedule section
of the course syllabus page prior to the start of the semester; once
classes begin, clickable links appear (and disappear) for the webcasts,
projects, etc.)
- Purchase your textbook package (see the course syllabus for textbook information)
- Register with Quia for the workbook/listening comprehension exercises
(see the course syllabus)
- Test your browser's configuration with Wimba. You
will need to allow pop-ups for the Wimba site, and you will need to have a microphone in order to complete your Wimba activities during the semester. If you do not have a microphone, consider this microphone from Target.
- View the sample webcast (dial-up or broadband) to
ensure that you will be able to watch the class webcast
- "Attend" the Introductory Meeting Information

- Parking: Park in the Pay Lot underneath the Reynolds
Coliseum Parking Deck (on the South side of the railroad tracks, south of
the Riddick Stadium Parking Lot.)

- Review the course syllabus
- Receive grade pin numbers
- Select course partners
- Resolve technology issues where possible
- Answer any questions you might have
- Take the placement test as needed
(this can also be taken prior to this meeting; see the FLTC
site for days/hours.
- Archive - For those who are not able to attend in person, this introductory meeting
will be archived and available for viewing as a webcast by Wednesday at 1 PM. Access the webcast
by clicking on the number "1" for this day on the syllabus, and
in the column that corresponds to your Internet connection (56k dial-up or
300k Broadband). The "1" will become clickable by Wednesday at
1 PM.
