This article discusses a multi-year, time-enhanced learning project--the creation of an Internet-based, university-level beginning Spanish course. There were four principal factors underlying the development and the execution of the project: 1) maintain the quality of the course; 2) maintain student enrollment; 3) maintain professor/student interaction; and 4) maintain student engagement. The course was originally taught in a traditional classroom setting with live students. It was also streamed live via the Internet and then archived for later streamage. Project results suggest that: 1) Current Internet technology can effectively deliver language courses and provide a virtually identical experience for the self-motivated foreign language student; 2) Achievement scores for Traditional students enrolled in the Internet version of the course were similar to the scores for the students in a traditional class, however the attrition rate was significantly higher; and 3) Non-traditional students who enrolled in the Internet course earned the lowest scores and suffered a significantly higher level of course attrition.
