Project #3 - ¡A comunicarnos! Capítulo 3


This project is a brief conversation via Zoom with your course GTA based on the "En acción" section of ¡A comunicarnos! for chapter 3, page 111. Be sure to be prepared to address each specified item, to communicate in complete Spanish sentences and to use no English. Your GTA will initiate and maintain this conversation.

  1. Content:
    1. Greet each other according to the formality or informality of the setting.
    2. Discuss several things you like to do during free time, providing details about when, where, and/or with whom they are done by answering the questions posed by your GTA and by asking your GTA questions, and following up on those questions.
    3. Discuss something that each of you must do, including when and/or where.
    4. Say goodbye to one another.
  2. Dates: Small windows of time will be made available by your GTA between ~Tuesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 15. (Actual due date is determined by final time slot in your GTA's schedule; see below.)
  3. Sign up: Sign up for your preferred slot with your GTA by Tuesday, June 14, 8AM, or you will lose 5 points (see rubric below)
  4. Converse: At the appointed day/time have the conversation with your GTA using their Zoom link. (Be sure that you verify your Google Calendar's time zone in order to avoid any confusion, and that that you have resolved any connection/technical issues prior to your time slot.)
  5. Time: 2-minute minimum and 3-minute maximum.
  6. Rubric:
    • Communication: Student made him/herself understood, 6 pts
    • Comprehension: Student understood instructor/GTA, 6 pts
    • Accuracy: Grammar was sufficiently correct to ensure communication, 6 pts
    • Vocabulary: Student's vocabulary was adequate for communication, 6 pts
    • Fluency: Student's speech flowed without distracting hesitations, 6 pts
    • Pronunciation: Pronunciation enhanced rather than impeded communication, 6 pts
    • Failure to set appointment by deadline: -6 pts, plus an additional -6 pts. each day thereafter until you have a date/time scheduled.
    • Each missed appointment: -6 pts, plus an additional -6 pts. each day thereafter until you have a new date/time scheduled.

  7. Note: Your GTA will provide this in the chat: 1. Greet; 2. Free time likes; 3. Other activities; 4. Must do; 5. Conclude; other than that, no notes, no book, no other resources; this is to be a relatively natural, flowing conversation with a beginning, a middle and an end.
