Question: Can you help with my Pegaus, Pop-Out and/or IMAP problems?

The Solutions:
  • If you are having trouble sending your email from home, visit these two sites:
  • If you are having trouble reading your new mail using Pegasus mail:
    • You will no longer find new email in the “New Mail Folder”
    • Choose FILE and MAIL FOLDERS
    • You will find your new email by clicking on the INBOX folder of the SOCIAL.CHASS.NCSU.EDU mailbox.
  • If you want to setup your Netscape email to access your new IMAP social account:
    • If you use Netscape to check your email in the office, at home, etc.

    •  Option 1: Browse to http://social.chass.ncsu.edu:8080/
       Option 2: Change your preferences in order to use Netscape Messenger for mail access
        a. Choose EDIT and PREFERENCES and MAIL & NEWSGROUPS and MAIL SERVERS
         b. If you currently have an incoming mail server such as “social.chass.ncsu.edu”, “mail”, etc., delete it. (This was an old POP3 server.)
        c. ADD a new incoming mail server with the following information:;
         server name - social.chass.ncsu.edu
         server type - IMAP server
         user name - YourSimpleOneWordSocialUserName
         select REMEMBER PASSWORD and CHECK MAIL as desired
        d. Settings for the outgoing mail server:
         server name - social.chass.ncsu.edu
         user name - YourSimpleOneWordSocialUserName
