| Who is Ted Greenstein? |
Ted Greenstein is a father, husband, teacher, researcher, and author. He is currently Professor and Director of Graduate Programs in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at North Carolina State University and holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Washington State University. Discussions and articles about his work have appeared in venues including USA Today, Newsweek, Washington Post, MS., Working Woman, MSNBC, NPR and many local print and broadcast outlets.
He is an Associate Editor of Journal of Family Issuesis and has served on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Marriage and Family and Social Forces. He is a member of the American Sociological Association, the Southern Sociological Society, and the National Council on Family Relations. |

Friday, April 4 -- Greenstein's manuscript "National Context, Family Satisfaction, and Fairness in the Division of Household Labor" has been accepted for publication by Journal of Marriage and Family. Tuesday, February 17 -- Shannon Davis (George Mason U.) and Greenstein have completed a chapter for Annual Review of Sociology, Vol. 35, entitled "Gender Ideology: Components, Predictors, and Consequences". Monday, February 11 -- Our move is complete! The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is now back in the newly-renovated 1911 Building. Dr. Greenstein's new office is in Room 309, at the south (Daniels Hall) end of the building. Drop by and say hello! Phone and mail addresses have not changed. Monday, November 19 -- Greenstein will be chairing a session entitled "Family and Kinship" at the annual meetings of the American Sociological Association in Boston in August, 2008. Thursday, January 4 -- Greenstein's office is now located in 304 Harrelson Hall while the "historic" 1911 Building is completely renovated. Mailing addresses and phone numbers remain the same. Monday, October 16 -- undergraduate advising begins today. Please check the signup sheet outside my office door for appointment times. 5/31/2006 -- Greenstein will become Sociology's Director of Graduate Programs as of July 1, 2006. 4/5/2006 -- Greenstein will be presenting his paper entitled "Domestic (in)Justice: National Context, Fairness of the Division of Household Labor, and Family Satisfaction" at the annual meetings of the American Sociological Association in Montreal on August 11. 3/1/2006 -- The second edition of Methods of Family Research (Sage, 197 pp., ISBN 1-4129-1677-1) is now available through fine booksellers everywhere! 9/7/2005 - Greenstein will be teaching the popular "Families and Work" (SOC404) course in Spring 2006. 7/15/2005 - The final draft of the second edition of Methods of Family Research is now in the hands of the copyeditor and should be available for Spring 2006 courses. 3/10/2005 - Greenstein will be offering his web-based version of SOC204 (Sociology of Families) this summer. SOC204.003 in Summer I, and SOC204.003 in Summer II, are both five-week online courses. 1/10/2005 - Greenstein is teaching two graduate courses this semester: SOC708 (The Analysis of Change), and SOC731 (Introduction to Family Sociology). 5/11/2004 - Shannon N. Davis (now a postdoctoral scholar at the Carolina Population Center) and Ruth E. Heuer (now at Research Triangle Institute) completed their Ph.D. degrees under Greenstein's direction. 5/11/2004 - Greenstein won the "Outstanding Advisor" award from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology
