• Read the Statnotes sections on "Significance" and "Power Analysis". Run SPSS SamplePower from http://vcl.ncsu.edu, the click on the Help menu choice and read the online power analysis sections (you may skim the precision analysis section).

Homework

1. Significance. Do the computer runs from Norusis I, Chapter 8 (T-tests), as described on page 142.

2. Power. Use SamplePower on VCL for a regression model with five predictors, where the researcher wishes to find any of the five predictors significant with a power of 80? What is the smallest appropriate sample size for this research design?
