Ethical Attitudes to Animals

A one-page chart describing three moral perspectives on animals (animal use, animal welfare, and animal rights), followed by an exercise asking students to apply these perspectives to three production animal practices (beef slaughter, milk cows, and laying hens). The chart is based on work of Gary Varner, who also wrote the cases. I have used this presentation in small and large classes, and in time blocks of from one to three hours.
