Please consider completing the optional Pre-test. This task is optional because the data derived from it will be part of a research project. None of the data will be linked to personally identifying information; your particular responses will be kept confidential and your instructor will not see them. We think you will enjoy taking the pre-test as a way of discovering your current knowledge of our subject. And your cooperation will help us improve the course for future students.

You will have the option at the end of the course to complete a companion post-test.

Instructions for NCSU Students

1) Log in to the WebCT site for this course: http://vista.ncsu.edu/index.php

2) On the left side of the page, under the heading "Course Tools", click on "Assessments".

3) You should now see 3 pre-test options:  

A. Pre-test (for all students EXCEPT engineers & physicists--25 questions)
B. Pre-test for engineers (35 questions)
C. Pre-test for physicists (35 questions)

4) Complete ONE of these pre-tests by clicking on the one that applies to you.

5) Follow the instructions, but first read the "Notes" on the next page (click "Continue" below).
