What is the purpose of the discipline-specific module?

1.  The focus of each of LANGURE's discipline-specific modules is on the social responsibility(ies) of researchers in one's discipline (e.g., computer science, physics, etc).

2.  The intended audience is doctoral candidates in one's discipline.

3.  The audience will have completed all of the coursework on OpenSeminar in Research Ethics except for the final, continuing education, module.

4.  The audience will be assigned to read the module ahead of time, and then gather for a 90 minute seminar in the department led by a departmental member, preferably a senior faculty member.  Thus, this exercise constitutes 2 of the 14 total hours of OpenSeminar.

5.  The module will focus on one (or at most two) true (or very plausible) case study.  It will end with 3 or 4 carefully constructed questions that will be posed by the person leading the seminar discussion.
