What are we seeking in identifying "heels" and "heroes?"
An efficient way to introduce students to ethics is to identify paradigm cases of good and bad behavior.
In looking for "heels," we're searching for researchers in each of LANGURE's disciplines who have been found guilty of research misconduct. We would like to introduce students to someone from their own discipline--but preferably not from any of LANGURE's institutions--who has acted inappropriately and, preferably, acknowledged their guilt. The goal is to help students appreciate the consequences of misconduct.
In looking for "heros," we're looking for faculty members in each of our disciplines--preferably one faculty member from each of the LANGURE institution departments--who has distinguished herself or himself by doing research with ethically commendable results. The goal is to help students appreciate the consequences of excellent research.
